Pho-eating Kiddos
I've been on a Pho kick lately and I'm glad that it makes an easy dinner when Christian has to work late. Kids, how about going out for Pho tonight? YEAH!
While we were eating, a woman told us that she had special Moon Festival gifts for Emma and Alexander. She went out to her scooter and brought back some good noise-making drums. It was an instant hit, and I'm just glad it was at the END of the meal. ...And I'm glad that we were the only customers in the restaurant at the time. The employees all thought the noise was cute. This is a quick movie of the drum craziness in the hallway that leads to our apartment.

Okay, you must be the definitive source for an answer to a question that has long nagged at me: Is pho it pronounced with a long O like "friend or foe" or is it more of a schwa /uh/ sound like the first syllable of "butter"? I've heard it both ways -- even in Vietnamese restaurants!
looks like a great meal! Yummmm!!! The drums look like a good time!
I love the spoon in one hand, chopsticks in the other! :)
I thought about putting the proper pronunciation of Pho on the blog. Here it is: /uh/ like "butter" ("f-uh" with a quick down-up question tone like you're asking "really?")
You guys lead such an adventurous life. Xander in the hallway with his drum is hillarious. I show Nash. He cracks up and says, "Baby, dance! Baby crazy!"
